Day One: Johannesburg/Benguerra Island

Today we board our flight from Vilanculos, Mozambique to Benguerra Lodge. The lodge itself is small and intimate with a rich East African/Arabic feel. Upon arrival we make ourselves at home in our Casitas. That evening join one of the guides aboard a dhow, which is a traditional sailing vessel used across the eastern coast of Africa, for a sunset cruise.

Day Two: Benguerra Island

Be prepared for an entirely new kind of safari experience - scuba diving in Bazaruto’s dazzling coral reefs. The wildlife here includes sea turtles, manta rays, Bannerfish, Moorish Idols, Boxfish, Butterfly Fish, giant Moray Eels, schools of Kingfish, groupers, Batfish Ribbontails, Fusiliers, and much, much more. On the surface, we may even see pods of dolphins hunting mullet or even humpback whales breaching in deeper waters.

Day Three: Benguerra Island/Johannesburg

Today we can choose from a number of activities including a tour of the island, deep see fishing, or dhow cruising. That evening watch from the beach, still warm from the sun’s heat, as the last rays of sunlight give way to a magnificent, star-studded sky.

Enjoy a 4-day/3-night getaway at Benguerra Lodge, located in the Bazaruto Archipelago. The Bazaruto Archipelago, one of Africa's most beautiful tropical destinations, is located north of Maputo near Vilanculos. The five islands that make up this archipelago are a haven for snorkeling enthusiasts, scuba divers, as well as for sun worshippers in search of unspoiled beaches. These islands are largely undeveloped and the surrounding tropical waters host an incredible display of marine life.
