
Day 1: En Route
Depart from home; en route to Windhoek, Namibia.
Day 2: Windhoek
Arrive in Windhoek, Namibia where you are met by your Lark
Tours guide. Transfer to the Elisenheim Guest House.

Day 3: Windhoek/Kamanjab
We set out in our fully equipped 4x4 off-road vehicles heading north to Kamanjab via Okahandja, Otjiwarongo and Outjo.

Day 4: Kamanjab/Ongongo Falls
Today we stop at the scenic Ongongo Falls where we set up camp. We relax, swim in the natural rock pools, and explore the surroundings on foot.

Day 5: Ongongo Falls/Opuwo
Today we stop at Opuwo on our way to Epupa Falls. Opuwo is the administrative city for this northwest Kunene Region. This town provides a welcome opportunity to experience a bit of this region's culture.

Day 6: Opuwo/Epupa Falls
We leave Opuwo this morning for the impressive Epupa Falls, located on the Kunene River, which marks Namibia's northern border with Angola. That night we sleep in luxurious tents beneath tall palm trees along the river.

Day 7: Epupa Falls
Today we visit one of the local Himba villages. It is a fascinating and humbling experience to observe these gentle pastoral-nomads engaging in daily activities, and to learn about their customs and culture. A part of the proceeds from this tour are given to the village in the form of essentials such as maize meal, sugar, etc.

Day 8: Epupa Falls/Otjihipa Falls
After an early breakfast we set out again, this time heading west. We leave the main road and begin navigating our way towards the Otjihipa Mountains using off-road routes. That night we set up a bush camp along our route where we enjoy a hearty dinner around the crackling fire that night, relishing in our sense of absolute freedom under the bright stars of southern Africa. This is truly one of the most liberating feelings in all the world, one not to be forgotten.

Day 9: Otjihipa Mountains/Marienfluss
Today we tackle Van Zyl’s Pass, a steep and rocky route through the mountains that will test the strength and endurance of both the vehicles and drivers. This is ranked as the most difficult pass in all of Namibia and is an adventure enthusiast’s dream. Before our final descent, we stop at a place with spectacular views of the Marienfluss, a valley of golden grassland stretching between towering mountain ranges.

Day 10: Marienfluss
Now we are really in remote Africa. We guide our way through this golden valley using GPS and colored oil drums that serve as markers. That night we again set up a remote bush camp along our route. This is wild Africa at its best!

Day 11: Marienfluss/Purros
We transfer to Purros, located along the banks Hoarusib River, which will serve as our base of operations for the next two nights as we explore the surrounding area.

Day 12: Purros
We set off for a full day of exploration, in search of elusive desert dwelling elephants, giraffe, and other African wildlife. That afternoon we travel to a hilltop with a fantastic view overlooking the valley, river course, and surrounding mountains, where we enjoy drinks and watch as the sun sets over the horizon.

Day 13: Purros/Damaraland
We transfer from Purros to Damaraland, stopping along the way at Fort Sesfontein, which was once a German outpost in 1901.

Day 14: Damaraland/Twyfelfontein
Today we arrive in the Twyfelfontein area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its many petroglyphs (rock engravings) and rock paintings, as well as for its interesting geological attractions such as the Organ Pipes. We spend the day exploring this region and learning of its history.

Day 15: Twyfelfontein/Windhoek
The last leg of our route takes us through Okahandja, which is famous for its extensive craft market, before arriving back in Windhoek.

Day 16:Windheok
Sadly, our adventure of a lifetime has come to an end. It's now time to leave the remote back country of Namibia and return home. We board our international flights home.
