Safari Extraordinaire: 18-Day vacation in South Africa, Namibia & Botswana
This is the safari vacation of a lifetime for those interested in the wildlife and diverse beauty that southern Africa has to offer. This trip takes us through five unique luxury safari lodges located in three of southern Africa’s premier wildlife destinations across South Africa, Botswana, and Namibia. If you are looking for one of the world’s top safari experiences, look no further.
Day 1: En Route
Depart from home; en route to Johannesburg, South Africa.
Day 2: Johannesburg/Kruger National Park
Today we arrive in Johannesburg, South Africa where we transfer to Lanseria Airport for our flight to Pafuri Camp in Kruger National Park. Once we arrive at Pafuri that afternoon, we set off on our first safari.
Pafuri Camp (lunch, dinner)
Day 3 & 4: Kruger National Park
We spend the next two days on safari in Pafuri. This area is the wildest and most remote part of Kruger and offers great wildlife viewing, the best birding in the region, and an entirely unique perspective of Kruger National Park and the wilderness in Southern Africa.
Pafuri Camp (all meals)
Day 5: Kruger National Park/MalaMala Game Reserve
We transfer by light aircraft to MalaMala Game Reserve, located further south adjacent to Kruger National Park. That afternoon embark on a thrilling safari in this new African wilderness environment.
MalaMala Game Reserve (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
Day 6 & 7: MalaMala Game Reserve
We spend the next two days on safari in search of all the magnificent wildlife Africa has to offer, from herds of elephants, to lions on the hunt, to elusive leopards, and everything in between. When we're not on safari, we spend time relaxing, enjoying MalaMala's fine cuisine, and soaking in the African surroundings.
MalaMala Game Reserve (all meals)
Day 8: MalaMala Game Reserve/Onguma Game Reserve
Today we transfer to Onguma Tree Top Camp via Johannesburg and Windhoek, Namibia. This camp is located in Onguma Game Reserve next to Etosha National Park. This destination promises to provide us with a dry, remote, though incredibly exciting, safari adventure.
Onguma Tree Top Camp (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
Day 9 & 10: Onguma Game Reserve
Over the next two days we explore Onguma Game Reserve and Etosha National Park, the third largest park in Africa, in search of rare Black Rhinoceroses, giraffe, elusive desert dwelling elephants, and much more. Namibia's remote wilderness provides us with unique facet to our well-rounded southern African safari experience.
Onguma Tree Top Camp (all meals)
Day 11: Onguma Game Reserve/Okavango Delta
Today we fly to Maun via Windhoek, where we transfer by light aircraft to Xigera Camp located in the heart of the Okavango Delta. That afternoon we embark on a safari to see the
surrounding wildlife.
Xigera Camp (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
Day 12 & 13: Okavango Delta
We spend two days at Xigera Camp exploring the Okavango Delta. The safaris at Xigera are centered on the water, since we are in the middle of the Delta. We observe the wildlife by traveling on mokoros, which are flat-bottomed boats that slowly glide across the water, or on motorboats so that we can venture further from camp. During the day we also set off on bushwalks for an even more personal experience of the African wilderness.
Xigera Camp (all meals)
Day 14: Okavango Delta
We transfer to Duba Plains Camp, situated in the Okavango Delta's remote northern region. Duba Plains is famous for titanic clashes between huge herds of buffalo and aggressive prides of lions. This is one of the best places in all of Africa to witness action-packed lion hunts.
Duba Plains Camp (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
Day 15 & 16: Okavango Delta
We embark on unforgettable safaris in an area that is considered to have some of the best game viewing in all of Africa. Duba Plains offers day safaris, night safaris, nature walks, and mokoro trips (water levels permitting).
Duba Plains Camp (all meals)
Day 17: Okavango Delta/Maun
Today is indeed a sad day - our safari adventure has come to an end! We fly to Maun, Botswana where we board our international flights home.
